Are Homefree products free of the 14 most common food allergens?
Yes! We have replaced the soy lecithin that used to be in our Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies with sunflower lecithin. That means that all Homefree products are now free of peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish, celery, mustard, sesame, sulfur dioxide and sulfites, lupin and mollusks. For even broader inclusiveness, Homefree uses no rice or legumes. Further, the Lemon Burst and Holiday Sugar Mini Cookies are corn free. As the mother of a child with multiple food allergies, I set up the dedicated facility and the entire production process the way I would want done for my child. Please see our way for details on all the care we take to make sure that Homefree treats are “treats you can trust.”

Are there seeds in Homefree products?
We use sunflower lecithin in several of our products, but the sunflower protein is removed in the process of making lecithin.
Buckwheat (in our gluten free vanilla mini cookies) is a fruit seed related to rhubarb and sorrel.
Are your products gluten free?
Yes. All Homefree products are certified gluten free by the Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO).
Homefree is a Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certified company, and we purchase all ingredients under a Supplier Approval Program. Each ingredient purchased must adhere to our Allergen Management Program, which includes our Gluten Free Certification.
The oats we use are always Purity Protocol oats, and that company does careful testing prior to shipping. Even when there were severe supply chain issues in the peak of the pandemic, we stayed with Purity Protocol oats. We take great measures to ensure that all products produced at Homefree are gluten free and are in compliance with all FDA, Local Government, State Regulations, and Gluten Certification at less than 10 ppm, and we strive to do even better than that.
In our facility, we do not allow staff to bring in gluten-containing products for their lunches. And our staff members put on our uniforms and shoes to be sure they are not tracking in any allergens or gluten on their clothing. And we wash the uniforms in-house and the shoes never leave.
We do an EZ gluten test on random products 2x/month to 10 ppm. As an extra check, we send our products out annually to a certified lab. They test our cookies for gluten traces down to 5 ppm.
We are committed to providing “treats you can trust.”

Yes. All Homefree products are plant based and certified vegan. That includes that there is no bone char in the sugar that we use. Do you take any precautions with regard to latex allergies?
Why do these cookies cost more than some other cookies?
In order to have the highest possible control over the quality and allergy safety of our cookies, we do not do the common, significantly less expensive practice of contracting with “co-packers,” where someone else bakes and packages the products in a kitchen shared with other products. Rather, we have our own dedicated facility for our products only. In this way, we can design and supervise every aspect of staff, equipment, ingredients, baking and packaging. Then we make our products from high quality, wholesome ingredients including 100% whole grain flours, natural chocolate and cocoa powder, fruit juice, and non-hydrogenated oils. Further, many of our ingredients are certified organic and our oats are specially grown and processed to be gluten free. We source all of our ingredients with great care, always choosing allergen safety over price. Additionally, we conduct our own allergen and gluten testing. All this so you can feel home free with “treats you can trust!”
Do you ship outside the United States?
Do you offer your products in bulk, such as for schools and other food service?
Yes. And to support schools’ and other non-profits’ efforts to support our children, we offer discounted bulk rates to keep the cookies as affordable as possible for all of the children. Some Homefree cookies are so healthy, they are USDA “Smart Snacks,” thereby providing a terrific solution for schools. These are the single serve bags of Double Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint, and Organic Ginger Snap. With Homefree, our children can feel great being included when treats are served, the parents love how wholesome the cookies are, and the kids without allergies love the cookies too.
Does Homefree have a commitment to sustainability?
Yes. At Homefree, we care a great deal about protecting our environment. Some of our products are certified organic and all are non-GMO verified. Further, most of our packaging is made from recycled or reworked materials, and most of our cookie boxes additionally are printed using wind power. We only use the packaging we need: You will find little extra space in our boxes. Because of our efforts toward sustainable packaging, Homefree was proudly a winner of Google’s national Single Use Plastics Challenge! From reusable cups in our staff room, to efficient appliances in our kitchen, to running our facility on 100% green energy, we at Homefree are careful stewards of our environment. We proudly are a certified B Corporation, based on rigorous, quantified, verified practices, because of our strong commitment to environmental as well as social responsibility.
