Are Homefree products free of the 14 most common food allergens?

Yes, but some of the Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies currently in stores and foodservice locations still contain soy lecithin, so check labels if you avoid soy lecithin. New Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies that we are shipping now contain sunflower lecithin instead of soy lecithin. That means that Homefree products are all free of peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish, celery, mustard, sesame, sulfur dioxide and sulfites, lupin and mollusks. Additionally, Homefree uses no rice, potato, or legumes, for even broader inclusiveness. As the mother of a child with multiple food allergies, I set up the dedicated facility and the entire production process the way I would want done for my child. Please see our way for details on all the care we take to make sure that Homefree treats are “treats you can trust.”

Is there soy protein in your products?

We no longer bake with soy lecithin! However, the Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies have contained soy lecithin, and some with soy lecithin are still in distribution. Most, but not all, people with soy allergies are able to tolerate soy lecithin because the protein has been removed, and allergies are reactions to proteins. However, because traces can remain, we tested our Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies for soy down to 2 parts per million and the test was negative for soy protein. Despite that, we additionally cleaned the lines before baking other flavors. If you are allergic to soy and are still seeing the soy lecithin version of our cookies locally, please consult with your allergist to determine what makes sense for you.

Are your products free of corn?

The Lemon Burst Mini Cookies and the Holiday Sugar Cookies are corn free. The Vanilla Mini Cookies and Double Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies contain a small amount of corn starch in the baking powder. Corn starch is fine for some people with corn sensitivities and allergies. The Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies’ chocolate chips contain dextrose, which is corn derived. Xanthan gum is in all of our products except for the Lemon Burst Mini Cookies and the Holiday Sugar Cookies. Xanthan gum has a derivation that involves corn, but contains no corn protein. If you have a corn allergy, you likely can enjoy products made with xanthan gum, but please check with your allergist to determine what is best for you.

Are there seeds in Homefree products?
Our dedicated facility has no sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, or sunflower seeds. We do use sunflower lecithin in several of our products, but the sunflower protein is removed in the process of making lecithin. Buckwheat (in our gluten free vanilla mini cookies) is a fruit seed related to rhubarb and sorrel.
Are your products gluten free?

Yes. All Homefree products are certified gluten free.

Homefree is certified by the GFCO. This includes carefully sourcing ingredients and then Elisa testing random product. Our facility is dedicated gluten free, including extra measures we take such as having staff wear our uniforms which we wash in-house.

Our gluten free oat flour is certified gluten free and processed using the purity protocol.

Are your products certified Kosher?
Yes. All Homefree products are “OK” certified as Kosher Pareve. The pareve means that we take extra care to ensure no contact with dairy.
What does the Whole Grain Council symbol mean?
Whole Grain Stamps quickly and easily identify real whole grain products. The recommended diet includes three 16 g servings of whole grain each day. All of our products contain at least 8 grams whole grain per serving, and therefore proudly bear the whole grain stamp. Imagine, a cookie being a good source of whole grain! And the kids devour them happily.

Are your products plant based or vegan?

Yes. All Homefree products are plant based and certified vegan.

Do you take any precautions with regard to latex allergies?
Yes. We understand that many people with food allergies may also be allergic to latex. We therefore use only non-latex gloves in our Kitchen.
Why do these cookies cost more than some other cookies?

In order to have the highest possible control over the quality and allergy safety of our cookies, we do not do the common, significantly less expensive practice of contracting with “co-packers,” where someone else bakes and packages the products in a kitchen shared with other products. Rather, we have our own dedicated facility for our products only. In this way, we can design and supervise every aspect of staff, equipment, ingredients, baking and packaging. Then we make our products from high quality, wholesome ingredients including 100% whole grain flours, natural chocolate and cocoa powder, fruit juice, and non-hydrogenated oils. Further, many of our ingredients are certified organic and our oats are specially grown and processed to be gluten free. We source all of our ingredients with great care, always choosing allergen safety over price. Additionally, we conduct our own allergen and gluten testing. All this so you can feel home free with “treats you can trust!”

Do you ship outside the United States?
Yes! Homefree mini cookies are now available in Canada and the UK. If you do not see Homefree cookies in your local store, just ask! For questions about other countries, please contact us.
Do you offer your products in bulk, such as for schools and other food service?

Yes. And to support schools’ and other non-profits’ efforts to support our children, we offer discounted bulk rates to keep the cookies as affordable as possible for all of the children. Some Homefree cookies are so healthy, they are USDA “Smart Snacks,” thereby providing a terrific solution for schools. These are the single serve bags of Double Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Mint, and Organic Ginger Snap. With Homefree, our children can feel great being included when treats are served, the parents love how wholesome the cookies are, and the kids without allergies love the cookies too.

Does Homefree have a commitment to sustainability?

Yes. At Homefree, we care a great deal about protecting our environment. Some of our products are certified organic thereby contributing to the health of our water and of our families. Further, most of our packaging is made from recycled materials, and most of our cookie boxes additionally are made using wind power. We only use the packaging we need: You will find little extra space in our boxes. From reusable cups in our staff room, to efficient appliances in our kitchen, we at Homefree are careful stewards of our environment. We proudly are a certified B Corporation because of our strong commitment to environmental as well as social responsibility.

Do you guarantee your products?
