At Homefree, we believe that no child should feel left out because of food allergies. This Thanksgiving, we are especially thankful for inspiring individuals like Nicole Kwitkin, founder of Nunches. Her company is transforming the way schools serve children with food allergies and celiac disease. Like our founder, Jill Robbins, Nicole’s mission is personal—she created Nunches after her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease at just two years old.
For years, Nicole made allergen-free lunches for her daughter, ensuring she could eat safely. However, as her daughter grew older, Nicole realized it wasn’t just about safety—it was also about inclusion. “When my daughter walks through the lunch line and chooses a Nunches meal, it’s the first time she’s had an option that’s truly safe for her,” Nicole shared. The need for our children to feel seen and included is something all parents can relate to, and it’s this inspiration that led Nicole to create ready-to-eat, allergen-friendly lunches for public schools.
Nicole started Nunches in Massachusetts, where free school meals are provided for all students. She recognized an opportunity to ensure that children with food allergies could enjoy the same benefits as their peers—no more packing separate lunches or feeling left out. But Nicole’s vision doesn’t stop there—she plans to expand Nunches to more schools across the country, giving even more children access to nutritious, safe meals.
We’re also thrilled that Nicole has chosen Homefree’s Double Chocolate Chip Cookies to be part of every Nunches lunch. She appreciates that our cookies are delicious, made from wholesome ingredients, and, most importantly, meet her very high standards for safety. Just like Nunches, we strive to make it easy for children to confidently enjoy their food.
Nicole’s story is a powerful reminder of how food can connect us, and we’re proud to partner with her in creating more inclusive experiences for children everywhere.
This Thanksgiving let’s celebrate the members of our community who step up to make a difference.
